Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between a visual signature and a digital signature?
- A visual signature is just an image stamped on the PDF. A digital signature is a cryptographic proof that verifies the signer's identity and proves the document was not modified after signing.
- Can I use my own company certificate?
- Yes โ upload your .pfx or .p12 certificate file. Docukit will use your certificate's private key (entered via password) to sign the document. The private key never leaves your browser.
- Will Adobe Acrobat show the signature as valid?
- With a CA-issued certificate: green "Signature is valid" checkmark. With a self-signed certificate: yellow warning with "Identity not verified" but integrity is still confirmed.
- Is my private key secure?
- Yes โ your private key exists only in browser memory during signing and is immediately garbage-collected afterward. It is never stored or transmitted.
